M’lup Russey

M’lup Russey is a non-governmental local organization in Cambodia. M’lup Russey understands that all children and youth grow up and develop in all areas of life- physically, mentally, emotionally and experimentally- when they receive individualized care as part of a family they call their own.

Vision

Safe communities, transformed by hope, strengthened by stability, for a sustainable future.

Mission

To support, nurture and strengthen families in communities so that they have the ability in managing and caring for family members, especially children. Provide services to young people, so that they can live safely in communities and develop as healthy individuals and to promote best practice in alternative care.

What M’lup Russey is Doing

Authority Support

We support all levels of authorities so that they have the capacity to offer better care for the protection of vulnerable children and to help families to live in community in peace and safety.

Community Support

We want to see key community members model practical application of alternative care policy, in order to support the proper reintegration of children and youth out of orphanages.

Social Work Technical Support

To raise awareness for families in community by providing quality emergency foster care to unrelated children, supported by well-trained social workers following base practice.

Youth Support

We work with the children and young adults who live or have lived in orphanages to help them prepare for life in the community.

Action with Family Care First (FCF)

M’lup Russey provided technical assistant to the Ministry of Social Affair, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation between October 2016 to February 2018. They also did an assessment of Residential Care Institutions (RCIs) and provided support to 73 RCI directors in knowledge about family based care. Four RCIs has closed voluntarily and 25 has refocused their activities to become more community based.

M’lup Russey is providing an ongoing care for children in Emergency Foster Care while family reunification and reintegration processes are conducted. It also provides a pilot of Emergency Foster Care provision to children with disabilities and to children left behind by migration. They do this by providing support to caregivers and social workers to increase their knowledge and skills in caring for children with disabilities and children with different kinds of vulnerabilities.
