Cambodia Children’s Trust

Cambodian Children’s Trust is a non-profit child protection organization based in Battambang, Cambodia working to make orphanages redundant and prevent children from separating from their families.

Our community-led model adopts a holistic approach and places families in the driving seat, empowering them to meet the challenges in their lives and raise their children well.

Vision

Our vision is to see Cambodian communities empowered to keep children safe and well within family.

What Cambodian Children’s Trust is Doing

Our work is focused on a two-prong approach to prevent and respond to the orphanage crisis in Cambodia.

We prevent child-family separation by:

  • bringing vital support services to communities
  • mobilising community networks to support and strengthen vulnerable families

We respond to children in orphanages by:

  • reuniting them with their families and communities
  • providing foster families as a last resort for children in need of alternative care

Action with Family Care First (FCF)

Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT) is expanding the services and reach of the piloted Holistic Family Based Care Model in Battambang Province, with primary focus on the prevention of child-family separation.

The Prevention and Strengthening work under the Holistic Family Based Care (HFBC) model is a two-pronged approach to address child-family separation:

– building the capacity of communities to be able to identify child protection concerns and provide direct interventions to children and families at risk of separation.

– the provision of supports and high quality services that are targeted to meet the specific needs of the child and family.

CCT is uniting their effort with This Life Cambodia to reintegrate children into family-based care, with a particular focus on children living in residential care institutions. Working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY), CCT covers this action in Battambang province, with the aim to reintegrate approximately 42 children.

CCT is implementing best practice alternative care services such as kinship care, foster care and independent living, as well as empowering families to take their children back from institutional care.
